Singer Smokey Robinson is facing serious allegations in a new lawsuit filed by four former housekeepers who accuse him of sexual battery, assault, and maintaining a hostile work environment. The suit, filed on May 6, 2025, also names his wife, Frances Robinson, as a co-defendant.
The plaintiffs, identified as Jane Does 1 through 4, allege that the abuse took place while they worked at the Robinsons’ Los Angeles residence over a period spanning from 2006 to 2024. Each woman claims she experienced unwanted sexual advances and harassment by Robinson, and that Frances Robinson failed to act and contributed to a hostile work atmosphere.
Jane Doe 1 worked at the Robinsons’ Chatsworth home from January 2023 to February 2024. She alleges Robinson first assaulted her in March 2023, and that the misconduct continued until her resignation.
Jane Doe 2, employed from 2014 to 2020, accuses Smokey Robinson of repeated sexual assault and Frances Robinson of ignoring her complaints and using racially charged language. Jane Doe 3 worked from 2012 to 2024 and alleges rape and sexual harassment throughout her employment, along with emotional abuse.
Jane Doe 4 was employed between 2006 and 2024 as both a housekeeper and Frances Robinson’s personal assistant. She alleges Robinson first assaulted her in 2007 during a trip to Las Vegas and continued inappropriate conduct for years.
According to the complaint, all four women refrained from reporting the alleged abuse earlier due to fear of retaliation, loss of employment, and shame. Their legal representation claims that the women, all Hispanic, were underpaid and subjected to working conditions that violated labor laws.
Attorney John Harris, representing the women, said during a press conference that the plaintiffs were paid below minimum wage and denied basic rights. He described Robinson’s alleged conduct as “despicable and reprehensible.”
The plaintiffs are seeking at least $50 million in damages, along with a jury trial. The Robinsons have not yet responded to the lawsuit.
