Rihanna and A$AP Rocky Expecting Third Child, Make Fashion History at 2025 Met Gala
Rihanna and A$AP Rocky are officially expecting baby number three — and they chose fashion’s biggest night to share the news. The power couple made separate appearances at the 2025 Met Gala on Monday, May 5, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
A$AP Rocky, 36, who served as one of this year’s co-chairs, arrived early in a sleek all-black custom ensemble by AWGE, his fashion label. Rihanna, 37, arrived fashionably late — nearly an hour after the red carpet had officially closed — but still managed to steal the spotlight. True to her signature Met Gala tradition, she made a dramatic entrance wearing a stunning maternity look by Marc Jacobs: a gray bustier, floor-length black skirt, cropped jacket, and custom accessories including heels, tie, and a hat designed in collaboration with renowned milliner Stephen Jones.
Her ensemble paid homage to this year’s exhibition theme: “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” The exhibit, led by curator Andrew Bolton and inspired by Monica L. Miller’s book Slaves to Fashion, explores Black dandyism and its cultural impact from the 18th century to today. 
This year’s gala was co-chaired by Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, Pharrell Williams, A$AP Rocky, and Anna Wintour, with LeBron James serving as honorary chair. As always, the event supported The Costume Institute’s ongoing work and highlighted this year’s spring 2025 exhibit.
Rihanna and A$AP Rocky’s Fashion Legacy at the Met Gala
Rihanna has attended more than a dozen Met Galas since her 2009 debut, becoming a staple of the event and delivering some of the most memorable looks in red carpet history. Highlights include her 2018 papal-inspired Maison Margiela gown for “Heavenly Bodies” and her sculptural black Balenciaga coat dress in 2021.
That same year, Rocky made his Met Gala debut alongside Rihanna, wrapped in a colorful quilted piece that went viral. In 2023, they once again turned heads — Rihanna in a dramatic Maison Valentino gown honoring Karl Lagerfeld, and Rocky in a Gucci look complete with a red plaid kilt over bedazzled jeans.
Their influence hasn’t gone unnoticed. Anna Wintour, Vogue’s editor-in-chief and the event’s longtime organizer, recently praised them in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, calling them “the most influential celebrity couple in fashion today.”
“They’re very talented, brilliant, and they have wonderful values,” Wintour said. “And of course, their style is unmatched.”
