The next chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is heading to the small screen. Captain America: Brave New World, starring Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford, will officially begin streaming on Disney+ starting Wednesday, May 28 at 12 a.m. ET (or 9 p.m. PT on May 27).

The film, which debuted in theaters on February 14, 2025, follows Sam Wilson (Mackie) as he steps fully into the role of Captain America. His journey pits him against a global conspiracy and introduces a new threat: the Red Hulk, played by Harrison Ford’s character, President Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross.

What to Expect in ‘Brave New World’

Directed by Julius Onah, the film blends political intrigue with high-octane action. USA TODAY’s Brian Truitt rated the film ★★½ out of four, calling it a mix of paranoia thriller and campy action spectacle. He drew comparisons to Captain America: The Winter Soldier while noting the film eventually transitions into full-scale Marvel-style chaos.

Despite critiques of its plot, Mackie’s performance was widely praised. Truitt wrote that Mackie “faithfully has taken the Captain America mantle from Chris Evans and given Cap new swagger and vulnerability.”
