Actress Takes Legal Action Following January Incident
Halle Bailey, the talented star of The Little Mermaid, has taken legal steps against her ex-boyfriend, rapper DDG, following disturbing allegations of domestic violence. The couple shares a 17-month-old son named Halo.
According to legal documents obtained on May 13, Halle was granted a temporary domestic violence restraining order against DDG (real name: Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr.) in Los Angeles.
The documents state that an argument between the pair in January escalated when DDG allegedly slammed Halle’s face against a steering wheel, resulting in a chipped tooth and visible bruises on her arm. Photos of the injuries were reportedly included with her filing. 
“I then stopped fighting back as I was in a lot of pain,” Halle wrote in her statement. “Darryl lacks an understanding of how his actions impact Halo. He is often verbally abusive towards me in front of Halo.”
Allegations of Repeated Abuse and Harassment
In her court filing, Halle described multiple incidents of alleged abuse. She claimed DDG sent her a threatening message in March and entered her home while she was not present. Days later, he reportedly locked her out of the house, took her phone, and discarded it while driving away.
Halle also accused DDG of publicly badmouthing her to his millions of followers on platforms like YouTube and Twitch. This, she said, led to threats and online harassment directed at her.
Despite trying to avoid legal conflict and offering DDG visitation access to Halo—even at the last minute—Halle concluded:
“I cannot allow this abuse any longer. I cannot keep living like this.”
DDG Responds to Parenting Conflict
In March, DDG claimed Halle was preventing him from seeing their child, saying during a livestream:
“I just don’t want it to come to the point where he’s like, ‘Alright, my pops not around.’ I was more frustrated and annoyed than anything.”
However, when they initially broke up in October, DDG painted a different picture, stating:
“After much reflection and heartfelt conversations, Halle and I have decided to go our separate ways… Despite the changes in our relationship, our love for each other remains deep and true.”
Halle’s Focus on Healing and Motherhood
Since the breakup, Halle Bailey has spoken about prioritizing mental health and self-love. In a past interview with E! News, she said:
“This new chapter in my life is just all about self-love… I want to make sure I’m fully there for [Halo].”
She added that motherhood has brought a sense of purpose and reminded her of her own self-worth:
“You are being loved unconditionally by this beautiful being… and that you’re important and special because of how much he needs you.”
