U.S. singer Chris Brown has been denied bail by a British court following his arrest in connection with a serious assault charge. The incident allegedly took place at a London nightclub in early 2023, and the development now casts uncertainty over his scheduled international tour.

On Friday, the Manchester Magistrates’ Court heard that Brown, 36, had been charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm. Prosecutor Hannah Nicholls described the incident as an “unprovoked attack with a weapon in a nightclub full of people.” Brown is accused of assaulting a music producer with a bottle at Tape nightclub in central London on February 19, 2023.

Brown was arrested earlier this week at a hotel in Manchester after returning to the UK. During the hearing, the court decided to remand him into custody pending further legal proceedings. He is scheduled to appear next at Southward Crown Court in London on June 13.

Chris Brown, a two-time Grammy Award winner, is internationally recognized for chart-topping hits like “Loyal,” “Run It,” and “Under the Influence.” He had been preparing for his highly anticipated “Breezy Bowl XX” world tour, which was set to begin on June 8 in the Netherlands.

The court’s decision to deny bail places the tour in jeopardy, as Brown may remain in custody until at least mid-June, depending on how the case proceeds. There is no word yet on whether the scheduled tour dates will be postponed or canceled entirely.

Brown’s legal history includes previous controversies, most notably his 2009 conviction for assaulting then-girlfriend Rihanna. This new case adds to a list of incidents that have drawn public scrutiny throughout his career.

Authorities in the UK are continuing their investigation, and more details are expected to emerge during the upcoming court appearance.

Fans and tour organizers now await further developments as the legal process unfolds and decisions are made regarding the status of Brown’s performances abroad.
