Although Andrew Garfield skipped the 2025 Met Gala, he was seen reuniting with girlfriend Monica Barbaro shortly after the event, continuing their low-key romance.
In video footage shared by Cosmopolitan, the Tick, Tick… Boom! star, 41, was spotted outside The Mark Hotel in New York City on Monday, May 5, following the high-profile fashion event. Garfield, dressed casually in a black graphic tee, blue button-down shirt, slacks, and a baseball cap, waited warmly for Barbaro, 34, who greeted him with a hug.
Barbaro, who attended the Met Gala earlier that evening, had changed out of her red carpet look and into a black embroidered Dior Fall-Winter 2025 tulle dress paired with a black Lady Dior handbag. For her official Met Gala debut, she had worn a recreation of Dior’s 1947 New Look — a white jacket and pleated black tulle skirt — completed with black gloves and a boater hat, per Harper’s Bazaar. 
Despite not attending the gala together, Garfield and Barbaro have been quietly dating since early 2024. PEOPLE first reported their relationship in February, citing a source who said the pair had been spending time together privately.
Their relationship has gradually become more public, with appearances together at the 2025 Oscars afterparty hosted by Beyoncé and Jay-Z, a grocery run in Malibu, and a night out at Richard II at London’s Bridge Theatre starring Jonathan Bailey.
The couple first sparked romance rumors after being photographed at W Magazine’s Best Performances party on January 4 in Los Angeles.
