Dead by Daylight’s annual Twisted Masquerade event is returning for one last time in 2025, as developer Behaviour Interactive prepares major updates for the game’s tenth anniversary in 2026.
During the second part of the game’s ninth anniversary stream, senior product manager Justin Banks confirmed that this year marks the final Masquerade. However, he reassured fans that anniversary events aren’t ending entirely — instead, they’re evolving. “We’re going to close out with one last big ‘hurrah’ before moving onto something completely brand new for our tenth anniversary next year,” Banks said.
This year’s Masquerade will bring back familiar gameplay mechanics like Invitations, which give players supernatural abilities during Trials. The chaotic Bag of Tryks mechanic is also returning, introducing random game-changing effects before each match.
The fan-favorite Father Campbell’s Chapel map is making a comeback, and the lobby will feature Five Nights at Freddy’s theming in celebration of the upcoming FNAF chapter release.
One major tweak is being made to improve gameplay balance. The controversial Remote Hook power has been reworked. Instead of instantly teleporting Survivors, Killers must now hold a button while a Survivor looks at a hook, creating more fair and interactive gameplay.
To mark the final Masquerade, Behaviour is ensuring every original character receives a themed mask or cosmetic. Survivors like Vittorio, Jake, and Taurie are included, along with the Houndmaster.
Additionally, all original Survivors and Killers will be free to play during the event, giving players full access to try every character without cost.
To help players collect all limited-time cosmetics, Behaviour also announced that Twisted Masquerade items will return to the in-game store permanently at a later date, eliminating FOMO from the event.
The final Dead by Daylight Twisted Masquerade event runs from Wednesday, June 25 to Wednesday, July 16, 2025.
Fans can look forward to Behaviour’s 2026 plans, which promise something “really special” to celebrate a decade of the asymmetrical horror game.
