Elizabeth Chambers is opening up about life after divorce and how her family has grown stronger in the aftermath of the scandal. The actress and entrepreneur, 42, recently appeared on Today with Jenna & Friends to promote her new show, Toxic, which explores themes of domestic violence and emotional betrayal — subjects she says reflect her personal journey.
Speaking about her current relationship with her two children — Harper and Ford, whom she shares with ex-husband Armie Hammer, Chambers said, “They’re amazing. We’re amazing. I think we’ve never been stronger as a family.”
The couple split in 2020 after 10 years of marriage. While Hammer, 38, faced serious allegations in the following years, which he has denied, Chambers focused on healing, parenting, and supporting her kids through the transition. 
“This show touches on unhealthy patterns and domestic violence,” Chambers said. “For me, I just experienced betrayal. But I learned so much about parenting, psychology, and humanity.”
When asked about her approach to co-parenting with Hammer, Chambers made it clear that she sees things differently.
“I don’t love the word ‘co-parenting,’” she said. “We’re just parenting as well as we can with what we have. Divorce is trauma, and nobody wants to inflict trauma on their kids.”
Chambers emphasized that she made every effort to protect her children’s well-being during and after the separation. “I spoke to every family separation therapist from the Upper East Side to Denmark to Russia,” she shared. “It’s not about us — it’s about the kids.”
Despite the difficult years following their split, Chambers says the family dynamic has only improved. Her focus is on healing, forgiveness, and setting a positive example for her children.
“There’s no growth if we’re angry or not forgiving,” she said. “We have one chance to do it right — and that’s what I’m trying to do.”
