At Google I/O 2025, Google introduced two major upgrades to its generative AI lineup: Veo 3 and Imagen 4, setting new standards for video and image generation.
Google Veo 3 is the latest state-of-the-art video generation model. It offers enhanced video quality over Veo 2 and, for the first time, includes audio generation—adding background sounds and dialogue between characters. Veo 3 excels at producing photorealistic scenes and accurately replicates real-world physics, including lip-syncing capabilities. Users can input detailed prompts, telling short stories that Veo 3 brings to life in video clips. This model is available now for Ultra subscribers in the U.S. via the Gemini app and Flow, and for enterprise users through Vertex AI.
Google Imagen 4 improves on its predecessor with faster speeds and better detail, capturing fine textures like water droplets, fur, and intricate fabrics. It supports both photorealistic and abstract image styles and offers broader aspect ratio options with up to 2K resolution. Imagen 4 also significantly enhances text rendering in images. This model is integrated into Gemini, Whisk, Vertex AI, and Google Workspace apps like Docs and Slides. A fast variant, up to 10 times quicker than Imagen 3, is planned for release soon.
Google AI Ultra, launched alongside these models, is a premium subscription costing $249.99 per month, offering access to Google’s top-tier AI models and features. Ultra includes Veo 3, Gemini, Flow, Whisk, NotebookLM, and more, plus 30TB of cloud storage. First-time users get 50% off for the first three months. Currently, Ultra is available only in the U.S., with global expansion planned.
Google Flow is an AI filmmaking tool that works with Veo, Imagen, and Gemini, designed to help creatives craft cinematic scenes effortlessly. It supports direct camera controls, scene extensions, asset management, and allows users to create or import characters. Flow is available to both AI Pro and Ultra subscribers, though Veo 3 access is exclusive to Ultra.
These updates demonstrate Google’s commitment to pushing generative AI realism and usability, empowering artists and creators to bring their visions vividly to life.
