Meghan Trainor has opened up about her health and wellness journey, revealing that she and her husband, actor Daryl Sabara, are both using the diabetes medication Mounjaro as part of their weight loss efforts.
Speaking on her Workin’ On It podcast alongside her brother Ryan, Trainor explained that the couple first tackled post-pregnancy health by taking on the viral “75 Hard” challenge after the birth of their first child, Riley. However, they later decided to explore medical options after hearing about Mounjaro and Ozempic from friends and even their doctors.
Trainor shared that she conducted thorough research before choosing Mounjaro (the brand name for Tirzepatide), saying it had fewer side effects than other weight loss medications. “I could [lose weight naturally], but when I asked my doctor, I was like, ‘Tell me everything.’ I did the research, and I felt safe,” she said.
Her husband, Daryl Sabara, joined the conversation, explaining that he had also put on some “sympathy” weight during her pregnancies. “Daryl and I both do everything together,” Trainor said, emphasizing their united approach to health.
The couple noted that they are on the lowest dose of Mounjaro and continue to focus on healthy habits like regular exercise and balanced meals. “We have to make sure we don’t lose muscle that we worked so hard to gain,” Trainor added. They emphasized that Mounjaro helped them feel less hungry, but they remain committed to maintaining a strong, healthy lifestyle.
This isn’t the first time Trainor has addressed her weight loss journey. At the 2025 Billboard Women in Music Awards, where she received the Hitmaker Award, Trainor commented on public reactions to her appearance. On Instagram, she wrote, “It’s a little disheartening that so many of the questions (and comments) were focused on my body instead of my music, my passion, or the decade of hard work that got me here.”
In a broader cultural context, the scrutiny of public figures’ bodies has remained a topic of debate, especially as more celebrities speak out or adopt medical treatments for personal well-being. For instance, political figures have faced their own forms of public critique, such as in global diplomacy—like when Trump offered to mediate the Kashmir issue.
Trainor concluded by affirming that her transformation was about becoming the healthiest version of herself for her kids and her future. “Yes, I used science and support—shoutout to Mounjaro—after my second pregnancy,” she said.
