Fashion’s biggest night returns on Monday, May 5, 2025, with a bold celebration of menswear and Black style. This year’s Met Gala, held as always at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, promises a historic focus on tailoring, culture, and Black excellence.
What’s the Theme?
This year’s theme ties directly into the Costume Institute’s latest exhibition, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” The exhibition draws inspiration from Monica L. Miller’s influential book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity.
The dress code is: “Tailored for You”, focusing on suiting and personalized menswear. This marks the first Met Gala in over two decades to center exclusively on menswear.
Expect stunning looks celebrating Black fashion history, from 18th-century style to today’s cultural icons.
Who’s Hosting?
As always, Vogue’s Anna Wintour leads the event. This year, she’s joined by a star-studded lineup of co-chairs:
-
Lewis Hamilton
-
Pharrell Williams
-
Colman Domingo
-
A$AP Rocky
-
LeBron James
The host committee is equally stacked, with names like Simone Biles, Spike Lee, Ayo Edebiri, Doechii, Usher, Tyla, Janelle Monáe, André 3000, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, and Jeremy O. Harris.
