Beloved TV Patriarch Remembered for His Faith and Bold Life
Phil Robertson, the famous star of Duck Dynasty, has died at the age of 79. His family confirmed the news on Sunday. Known for his faith and founding the Duck Commander brand, Robertson passed away after struggling with Alzheimer’s and other health issues.
Korie Robertson, his daughter-in-law, shared the announcement on Instagram.
“We celebrate today that our father, husband, and grandfather, Phil Robertson, is now with the Lord,” she wrote.
She quoted the Apostle Paul, reminding others that believers grieve with hope.
“We believe that Jesus died and rose again. So we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.”
The family plans to hold a private service. They will later share details of a public celebration of his life.
Korie thanked everyone who prayed and supported them.
“We are grateful for his life on earth,” she added. “We will continue his legacy of loving God and others until we see him again.”
From Football Star to Faith Leader
Before his TV fame, Robertson played quarterback at Louisiana Tech. He started ahead of NFL legend Terry Bradshaw.
In 1972, he founded Duck Commander, a duck call business. The success of that company led to Duck Dynasty, which aired from 2012 to 2017.
Health Struggles in His Final Years
In December, the Robertson family revealed Phil’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis on their podcast, Unashamed.
Willie Robertson said his father had multiple health problems.
“He’s battling a blood disorder, memory issues, and probably had ministrokes,” Willie shared. “He also fractured his back, which causes pain.”
In April, his son Jase gave a blunt update.
“People ask me how he’s doing. I tell them, ‘Not good,’” Jase said. “We’re making him comfortable and doing our best. That’s what you do.”
A Faithful Life That Touched Millions
Phil Robertson lived with bold faith and spoke about Jesus to anyone who would listen. His legacy lives on through his family and countless fans.
The Robertsons promise to continue sharing his message of hope and grace.
