The long-anticipated canonization of Carlo Acutis, widely known as “God’s Influencer,” has been officially rescheduled. Pope Leo XIV announced that the ceremony will take place on September 7, following the postponement earlier this year after Pope Francis’ death.
Carlo Acutis, a British-born Catholic teenager who passed away in 2006 at the age of 15, captivated the hearts of young Catholics around the world. A devout believer and passionate digital evangelist, Acutis used his computer skills to build a website cataloging Eucharistic miracles. He was known for saying he wanted “to always be close to Jesus.”
Despite his young age, Acutis dedicated much of his life to helping others, frequently giving his time and possessions to support the homeless and hungry in Milan. He was also a typical teen — playing video games and wearing jeans and sneakers, a look preserved in his tomb in Assisi, where he lies in a glass coffin. 
Two Confirmed Miracles
Acutis was beatified in 2020, after the first of two miracles was recognized by the Vatican. That miracle involved a young Brazilian boy with a severe pancreatic condition who was miraculously healed after his mother prayed to Acutis.
The second miracle, confirmed in 2022, involved a Costa Rican woman who sustained life-threatening injuries in a bicycle accident. Doctors gave her little chance of survival, but after her mother prayed at Acutis’ tomb, she began breathing on her own and recovered with only a week of physical therapy.
Canonization Rescheduled After Delay
Originally scheduled for April 27, the canonization was postponed indefinitely following the passing of Pope Francis. During a recent gathering of cardinals, Pope Leo XIV confirmed the new date: September 7.
Carlo Acutis will become the first Millennial saint, continuing to inspire a new generation of Catholics through his legacy of faith, compassion, and digital ministry.
