Thunder Set the Tone Early, Lock Down Edwards
OKC opened the game with strong defense, forcing seven turnovers in the first quarter and jumping out to a 37-30 lead. Luguentz Dort, the Thunder’s defensive anchor, effectively shut down Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards, holding him to just four first-half points.
Edwards finished with 16 points on 5-of-13 shooting, including 1-of-7 from deep. Julius Randle struggled even more, going 1-of-7 for only 5 points.
Timberwolves Bench Keeps It Close
Despite lackluster performances from their stars, the Timberwolves stayed competitive thanks to their bench. Nickeil Alexander-Walker scored 23 points (5-of-8 from three), and Donte DiVincenzo added 21 points, also going 5-of-8 from beyond the arc.
Minnesota tied the game at 79 in the third quarter with an 11-2 run, but OKC responded immediately with an 8-0 burst. Even in the final minutes, Minnesota cut the lead to 111-109 before another Thunder surge, including a spectacular Jalen Williams three assisted by a falling Gilgeous-Alexander, restored control.
