Hello Windows Insiders!
Today, we’re releasing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22635.5305 (KB5055636) to the Beta Channel for users on Windows 11, version 23H2.

🔔 Important:
This will be the final Beta Channel update based on Windows 11, version 23H2. Soon, all Beta Channel users will be upgraded to Windows 11, version 24H2. Moving forward, all updates in the Beta Channel will be based on version 24H2.
You can already choose to upgrade to Windows 11, version 24H2 as an optional update if you’re in the Beta Channel today.

Update Structure for Beta Channel Builds

Changes and updates in Beta Channel builds are split into two categories:

  • Gradual rollout (toggle ON): Features and fixes for users who enable the setting to get the latest updates right away.
    (Settings > Windows Update > “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available.”)

  • General rollout: Features and fixes released to everyone in the Beta Channel over time.

New Features Rolling Out Gradually (toggle ON)

📢 New Profanity Filter Setting for Voice Typing

We’re excited to introduce a highly requested feature:
A new setting to control the profanity filter for voice typing.

  • When ON: Profanity will be filtered and replaced with asterisks (***).

  • When OFF: Profanity will appear as spoken, without filtering.

To access this setting:

  1. Press Win + H to open Voice Typing.

  2. Click the Settings icon.

  3. Toggle the Filter profanity option.

📝 Feedback: Report issues through Feedback Hub (Windows key + F) under Input and Language > Voice Typing.

Changes and Improvements Rolling Out Gradually (toggle ON)

🖥️ Taskbar & System Tray

  • Admins can now allow users to unpin specific apps.
    These apps won’t automatically re-pin after a policy refresh.
    (Enabled via the new PinGeneration option. Learn more here.)

Fixes Rolling Out Gradually (toggle ON)

  • File Explorer:
    Fixed an issue where touching the View button could crash File Explorer.

  • Windows Spotlight:
    Fixed the “Learn more about this picture” popup sometimes getting stuck on top of other windows.

  • Input:
    Fixed a bug where switching pages in the touch keyboard’s Symbols section could enter random characters in password fields.

  • Settings:
    Fixed incorrect corner radius when hovering over cards in System > About.

Known Issues

  • Xbox Controllers [New]:
    Some users report that using an Xbox Controller via Bluetooth causes a blue screen (bugcheck).

Temporary Fix:

  1. Open Device Manager.

  2. View > Devices by Driver.

  3. Find and uninstall the driver named: oemXXX.inf (XboxGameControllerDriver.inf).

Important Reminders for Beta Channel Insiders

  • Beta Channel updates are currently based on Windows 11, version 23H2 via an enablement package (Build 22635.xxxx).

  • Many features use Controlled Feature Rollout:
    They are first made available to a small group, and expanded gradually.

  • Want features faster?
    Turn ON “Get the latest updates as they are available” in Settings > Windows Update.

  • Features under testing:
    Some features may never make it into a final public release, may be changed, or removed.

  • Localization:
    Some features may not be fully translated yet. Please report any localization issues through Feedback Hub.

  • Beta vs Dev Channels:
    Occasionally, features may appear in Beta before they appear in the Dev Channel.
