Xbox Cloud Gaming experienced a significant disruption on Sunday, leaving hundreds of users frustrated as they encountered connectivity problems despite the platform showing as fully operational.
Reports of the issue began surfacing early in the day, with more than 700 complaints logged on Downdetector, a website that tracks real-time outages and service interruptions. While Xbox’s official status page continued to display the Cloud Gaming service as “online,” users across platforms like X (formerly Twitter) voiced their frustrations with being unable to launch or maintain gameplay sessions.
“XboxSupport xbox cloud gaming is down but says it’s up and running on your site wtf is happenin? Finally get some time to play and now I can’t fix it,” one user posted.
Another added, “Welp afternoon stream is either going to be an evening stream or cancelled, xbox cloud gaming is down. and the live status is still green.”
These and many similar posts contributed to growing confusion as players were left without clear answers. For many, this was not just a casual disruption—it affected scheduled streams, weekend gaming plans, and cloud-based gameplay continuity.
In response, the official Xbox Support team acknowledged the issue in a statement posted to social media:
“We are aware that users may be experiencing issues launching Cloud Gaming titles. Thank you for your patience and reports! While we investigate, please follow along here and on our status page for updates.”
At the time of writing, Microsoft has not provided a clear timeline for a fix. The incident once again raises concerns about the reliability of cloud-based gaming services, especially when users depend on them for consistent performance.
Gamers are encouraged to monitor the Xbox Support status page for real-time updates as engineers work to resolve the problem.
